The aim of the present study is to examine relationships between emotional valence and intensity autobiographical memories phenomenological characteristics in context individual emotions memory types. Seven hundred sixty-four students (514 female, 250 male) from Dokuz Eylul University participated study. Participants were asked recall an childhood memory, a self-defining or romantic relationship memory. Regression analyses showed that predicted sensory details, rehearsal, preoccupation with In moderated-mediation analyses, mediating effects detected characteristics, except negative self-esteem Among these moderating effect types was only hostile anxiety-related through mediation intensity. Artificial Neural Emotions and Emotional Memory
Artificial feelings and emotions are beginning to play an increasingly important role as mechanisms for facilitating learning in intelligent systems. Here we present an architectural framework for artificial neural emotions through the use of an emotional memory system, based on Dr. Peter Levine's Autonomic Nervous System States. Tying the notions of Human Autonomic Nervous System States to an ...
متن کاملEffect of Affect Induction Method on Emotional Valence and Arousal
Human functioning is influenced by the affective state. The literature contains several references to the possibility that valence and arousal have separable influences on attention. There are several methods of inducing affective state but the most popular are by music and video clips. The latter are more vivid and stimulate several sensory systems, leading to the hypothesis that a stronger ef...
متن کاملEmotional memory: separating content and context.
It is now well established that emotion enhances episodic memory. However, it remains unclear whether the same neural processes underlie enhancement of memory for both emotional stimuli and neutral stimuli encoded in an emotive context. We designed an experiment that specifically attempted to separate these effects and that was validated on 30 participants. We then used functional magnetic reso...
متن کاملEmotional intensity predicts autobiographical memory experience.
College students generated autobiographical memories from distinct emotional categories that varied in valence (positive vs. negative) and intensity (high vs. low). They then rated various perceptual, cognitive, and emotional properties for each memory. The distribution of these emotional memories favored a vector model over a circumplex model. For memories of all specific emotions, intensity a...
متن کاملCortisol and memory retrieval in humans: influence of emotional valence.
Glucocorticoids secreted in response to stress modulate memory in animals and humans. Studies in rodents suggest that glucocorticoids enhance memory consolidation but impair delayed retrieval. Similar negative effects on memory retrieval have been reported in humans. The human studies so far have not addressed the issue of emotional valence, which conceivably could modulate the effects of corti...
